Hard-tail MTB Bikes - The last couple years have seen a resurgence of the "hard-tail" mountain bike. Hard-tails are the bike of choice for many riders due to lighter weight and added stiffness. Others choose hard-tails just because they don't need full suspension or for easier affordability. Whatever your need or desire these hard-tails are feature filled and ready for your own Jeep® adventure. Full Suspension - Whether you need full suspension for the added performance or just for the extra comfort, Jeep® Bicycles has a bike for you. "Full" or "Dual" suspension describes a bicycle with both wheels suspended by springs and shock absorbers, like a motorcycle or an automobile. Suspension helps keep the wheels in contact with the trail and also smoothes the bumps for the rider. Giving more control and more comfort. The trade off is usually a little more weight and more moving parts. Jeep® Bicycles use proven suspension designs and components for the best overall performance, comfort and durability. This new line features the all new "T" frame on 12", 16" and 20" models which allows a more stable, safe and sure learn to ride experience. Training wheels are standard on the 12" and 16" models Multiple gears are available on the 20" models and one even comes with a full suspension frame. Road bikes are designed to be ridden only on pavement. Road bikes have light frames, drop or racing style handlebars, and narrow, high-pressure tires. Comfort Bikes - Exactly what the name implies - these bicycles are designed to fit your lifestyle as well as your body so they are comfortable to ride. The frame geometry gives the rider an upright and relaxed riding position and the stylish design will turn heads wherever you go. Wide comfortable saddles and upright handlebar positions let you ride high and easy. They all feature strong and lightweight aluminum wheels with wide smooth tire tread for smooth and easy pedaling on any road. Try one today and discover the superior comfort. BMX stands for bicycle motorcross. Freestyle bikes are designed for doing tricks on the ground, off a ramp or in a half-pipe. BMX bikes are designed to be ridden and raced over prepared obstacle courses (usually through woods or around a dirt track), and are patterned after motorcycle motocross. Freestyle frames are small and sturdy, and closely resemble their BMX brethren. Features may include front and rear pegs (which riders can stand on while performing tricks), and a rotor that allows the handlebars to spin 360 degrees without the brake cables getting tangled or broken. Proper size makes the difference.
Frame height - Generally speaking, when sizing a diamond frame bike, sometimes called a men's or unisex frame, you need to measure how it will fit when you straddle the cross bar while flat-footed in the shoes you'll be riding in. So measure your inseam from the bottom of your feet to your crotch.
- For a road or hybrid bike, you should have an inch or two of clearance between your crotch and the top tube
- For a mountain bike, clearance should be about four inches--especially if you'll be riding in rugged terrain where an unplanned dismount is likely
- BMX and freestyle bikes all have 20-inch wheels, so frame size isn't really an issue. A rider's physique and riding style is accommodated by choosing the appropriate seatpost, stem, handlebar and crankarm lengths.
- When considering a women's frame, or frame with no cross bar, clearance isn't an issue. In this case, the best fit is usually determined by reach.
- Frame sizes come in inches or centimeters, depending on the manufacturer
- Not all manufacturers measure from the same points on the frame. Some measure from the bottom of the crankset to the top of the seat tube. Others may measure from center to center, bottom to center, or some other angle.
- Also, not all frames have the same geometry. All of this means that a 21-inch frame from one company may fit very differently than the same size from another manufacturer.
